You may be wondering 'which boiler do I need?'
There are three different types of boilers to choose from: Combi, System and Regular

1. Combi Boiler
This is always the preferred option as it has the lowest running costs and will also supply high pressure hot water. The only reasons not to have a combi boiler are if you need to run more than two showers at once or if you wish to make use of solar heating panels. In these cases you need to have a system boiler and an unvented cylinder.

2. System Boiler
For large properties with three or more bathrooms the best option is a system boiler with an unvented cylinder. This setup is slightly more expensive to run than a combi as the cylinder has to be kept hot but it will provide the flow rates required to run several hot water supplies at the same time. Some unvented cylinders have the option to make use of solar heating panels which will reduce the cost of keeping the cylinder hot.

3. Regular Boiler
Sometimes known as a 'conventional' or 'heat-only' boiler, this 'open-vented' setup is the most expensive to run as the cylinder is less well insulated than an unvented one. Also, the hot water pressure will be much lower than that provided by either a combi or system boiler because it relies on gravity rather than the pressure of the incoming mains. The only reason to keep an open-vented system is cost, to convert to a combi or unvented system involves a fair amount of pipework alterations,
